This is the third time we have camped at Pirateland. While it is very crowded during the summer, with a lot of golf carts as noted by other reviewers, we found it to be delightful before the crowds hit. The pools and the lazy river were sparking clean and while the bathhouses are older they are also kept clean. Other than the older bathrooms the only thing that kept this from being a "10" was the location of the hookups. On our site the hookups were on the wrong side and at the back of the site while they needed to be toward the middle. This is the only campground where I have actually needed an electrical extension. We have toured Ocean Lakes and actually prefer Pirateland for the size of the sites and the tree cover. We will camp here again.

I have to agree with other reviewers about this campground. It probably was nice in the '80's but not now. The staff was friendly and the sites were fine (although a pull-through has two sites one in front of the other), but it's a so so campground at the end of a rough and dusty road. Wi-Fi was iffy and the restrooms/showers needed updating. We stayed one night and it along with our previous night's stay at a KOA have made us look elsewhere. KOAs near major attractions seem to be nice but otherwise "buyer beware"! If we return to the Fargo area we will stay elsewhere.

Nice park, excellent staff, good sites, like new restrooms and showers. Convenient to the Twin Cities. The only thing I didn't like about the park was our hook-ups were at the back of the site so our camper barely fit into it (guess I should have brought extensions for the electrical). We would definitely camp here again!

Nice park with an unusual arrangement. Sites are separated from one another by a row of cedars. You could easily hear your neighbors but you couldn't see them! The camp staff was hot and cold sometimes friendly sometimes indifferent. Wi-Fi was good but is $3 per day. This is the only US location of a Canadian resort chain and most of the campers were from British Columbia. They have camper storage which we used while we took an Alaskan cruise. We would stay here again!

Well run and maintained former KOA campground. Wide sites sites, great showers and restrooms, Wifi worked well, pool was warm and clean. We enjoyed our stay here and would return.

Friendly staff, shaded level site, Wi-Fi was free but did not work at the campsite had to go to office or game room. Restaurant on site serves breakfast and dinner (no lunch) was good and convenient. Probably the most reliable choice in the area.

This is an excellent campground! It has good Wi-Fi, friendly staff , and a great quiet location. Showers cost $1CDN for 5 minutes, but were well worth it! We would definitely stay here again!

Yes this park is expensive but it was well designed, well run, and well maintained! The WiFi was good but slow (satellite, not cable). Bathhouses were well laid out and spotless. This would make a good base for exploring Jasper National Park. No shade but we were here in the middle of July and it was cold anyway!

Staff was friendly and helpful. Campsites are grass and are soggy when it rains. Also there is an active railroad track at the back of the campground. I was awakened several times by train horns. It is also located close to the main highway and gets noise from that also. I know it must be hard to find the perfect location for a campground, but this isn't it!

Friendly, helpful staff; long level sites but NO SHADE; nice restrooms. There was road noise, but it didn't keep any of us awake. River access was nice but cold. There is a box of menus in the office which made it easier to pick a restaurant.

Sites are not very wide and are somewhat difficult to back into. Great pool and bathhouse.You can't beat the location if you are visiting Holiday World but otherwise not much to do. Great for me since my wife and kid can visit the park and I can hang out and fish in their pond!

Great Friendly Staff! Less than a mile from the interstate. Good pool and hot tub. Sites are right next to each other but there was no noise. Since we camped in a pop-up, and truck and camper are 43 feet total the sites were extra long for us. Nice showers, good WiFi, limited but good cable selection. Great overnight stop.

Great campground! I'm sure it seems a it pricey, but where else can you see Devil's Tower when you come out of the shower. Right next to the entrance you're never more than a few feet from a view. Sites are the usual KOA variety, but since we camp in a pop-up the length is never a problem. The showers were great! Individual showers, where you have a shower and dressing room all to yourself. Plenty of hot water and clean. The restaurant on site is open from 7-2 and is NOT open for the evening meal. Staff was friendly and very helpful.

Friendly very helpful staff. Typical KOA, very convenient but located close to train tracks with lots of train horns. Sites are mainly pull throughs and not particularly wide. Wifi worked great. Was a good place for an overnight stop but I don't know if I would want to spend a lonf time here.

Busy park with a friendly helpful staff. Good WiFi, good pool but with lots of unsupervised children. Sites are long but close together. Cable is only available at highest priced sites. Restrooms and showers clean and well arranged. Be sure to try the ribs - they're great! Breakfast is good too!

Friendly staff. The campground is well run. The restrooms and showers, while older, are well maintained with plenty of water pressure. The cable listing in their guide indicated that there were 80 channels, but we could only find the first thirty but that was enough for us. Long pull thru sites and very quiet. There were some train horn, but they were very distant. Not much to do there, but it made a great overnight stay.

Our favorite campground! Always quiet. We have been camping here for over 15 years and the only problem is this campground has become so popular it's hard to get a space. Lots of room between campsites. Level gravel and some concrete sites. There is no store, however you are about 10 minutes away from Gallatin & Hendersonville. There is a boat ramp with a small dock next door. We usually buy some bait on our way up and fish off the dock. We will return again and again!

Great location if you want to be away from it all. I suggest a location on the other side of the store from the ocean. We have stayed at this park three times. This time we were closer to the beach and there was so much wind we could hardly sit outside. Other parts of the campground seemed OK. This is a place to sit back and enjoy nature! If you like seafood be sure to eat at Johnson's Creek just outside the park and the Shrimp Shack further down the road. Good store, great people, we will definitely camp here again and again!
